About the Course
This introductory course offers a fascinating journey into the world of Arabic Morphology, the system of roots and patterns that lies at the heart of Arabic word formation. Through a series of live online sessions, you will learn how roots combine with different patterns to generate families of related words, uncover the meanings embedded in those patterns, use this knowledge to understand and derive words you may have never encountered before and much more. With guided practice, a variety of classroom activities, weekly homework and individual feedback, the course will give you the tools to see Arabic vocabulary not as a collection of words to memorise, but as a remarkably structured and interconnected system. This course changes the way you see and approach the Arabic language forever! No prior knowledge of Arabic Morphology is required for entry into Part 1 of this course. However, knowledge of the Arabic script (both reading and writing), as well as basic knowledge of Arabic vocabulary, are essential to grasp and appreciate the topic of this course. About the Course Founder & Instructor
My name’s Mira. I am deeply fascinated by language and words! In addition to language learning and research, I have over 20 years of experience in teaching Arabic to adult learners, from non-Arabic-speaking backgrounds, in a variety of settings including university and adult education institutions in Melbourne, Australia. I have also been running my private community-based Arabic language program for women for over 18 years. By Allah’s grace, I have developed Arabic curricula and a substantial body of didactic material during the above period.
In addition, I have worked as a professional, accredited English-Arabic translator and interpreter and authored articles and books on topics of personal interest, writing in both Arabic and English.
I hold a PhD and a Master’s degree in Applied Linguistics (Education) from the University of Melbourne and La Trobe University, respectively. I also hold a Graduate Diploma in Education (TESL and LOTE/Arabic) from La Trobe University and an Advanced Diploma in Interpreting and Translating (English-Arabic) from RMIT University.

Prerequesite
- Prior knowledge of the Arabic script and of basic Arabic vocabulary is a must.
- No prior knowledge of Arabic morphology is required.
- Although helpful, no prior knowledge of Arabic grammar is required.

- Individual, pair and group classroom activities.
- Weekly homework and individual feedback.
- Major Assignment and Completion Certificate at the end of Part Two of the course.
